Getting Your Online Presence Ready for the New Year

2015 is coming to an end, and we still don’t have hoverboards, flying cars, or Jaws 19. But in spite of those disappointments, 2015 has been a pretty good year for us here at Clockpunk Studios. We’ve launched new author websites that we’re very proud of, members of our staff have celebrated the releases of new books (Vermillion and The Pleasure Merchant by Molly Tanzer, and Painted Monsters & Other Strange Beasts by yours truly), and we’ve continued in our mission to help authors, editors, publishers, magazines, and other businesses to develop the best websites they possibly can.

We’ve got big plans and high hopes for 2016, but we also want to know what you’ve got in store for the coming year. New books, new projects? Let us know about them on Twitter or Facebook.

For many people, the New Year is a time for new beginnings, for making plans and laying the groundwork for a productive and successful year ahead. That means that the beginning of the year is a good time to think about things like the future of your author website, your social media strategy, and anything you might have been putting off during the previous year.

It’s a good time to think about keeping your website up-to-date. That means more than just updating your bibliography or posting to your blog every now and then; it also means back-end support like ensuring that your plug-ins are up-to-date. Fortunately, here at Clockpunk Studios, we offer ongoing WordPress support to help keep your site running smoothly and free from adware and other problems. Besides regular plug-in updates and daily off-site backups, our support clients can count on Clockpunk’s expertise in solving any more unusual problems that may crop up.

These days, social media and interactions with readers and fans are a big part of just about every author’s life, so 2016 is also a good time to think about how you’re using social media and other online opportunities to connect with readers, and how you can make them work for you. While Facebook and Twitter seem like the most popular spots for the cool kids to hang out these days, there’s a real danger of your signal getting lost in all the noise there, so at Clockpunk Studios, we recommend supplementing your social media presence with a newsletter that readers can opt-in to in order to keep up on your latest projects.

Whatever your plans for your website or online presence in 2016, Clockpunk Studios has the experience and the know-how to help you make it stand out from the crowd. We’re booking up fast, though, so contact us today to learn more!
