Looking Back: Clockpunk Studios in 2016

Well, it’s that time of year again. Time to start completely abandoning all those well-intentioned New Year’s Resolutions about hitting the gym more often, saving more money, and not just eating sticks of butter dipped in chocolate chips anymore. That also means it’s time for a look back at the year gone by…

2016 was a year, we can certainly say that much for it. It was a tough year in a lot of ways. We said goodbye to a lot of amazing people in 2016, many of them celebrities who had touched the hearts and minds of people all over the world. If I tried to start listing them all, I’d be bound to leave somebody out. 2016 also saw a… contentious, we’ll say, presidential election, the results of which were not what many of us were hoping for.

In the wake of all that, it can be easy to look back and just be happy that 2016 is in the rear view mirror, but there was a lot of good stuff in 2016, as well. Here at Clockpunk Studios, we were proud to launch a number of new websites for our clients in 2016, while also continuing to provide the top-notch ongoing support that our regular clients have come to expect.

Early in the year, we were extremely proud to launch Congress Magazine, a recurring publication specializing in thoughtful erotica, edited by our very own Molly Tanzer. We also launched new websites for the SFWA Speaker’s Bureau, Pikes Peak Writers, and new author websites for Matt KnightMarc Laidlaw, and Tamora Pierce, to name just a few. We were overjoyed to celebrate the nominations (and wins!) of some of our clients in the Nebula Awards, World Fantasy Awards, the Hugos, and more.

We have suggested books for All Hallow’s Read, cheered our clients and friends on during NaNoWriMo, and handed out tips on everything from SEO to WordPress security to how to handle bad reviews. Most of all we’ve enjoyed working with the diverse writers, editors, publishers, and other businesses who make up our clients, our friends, and our online family. 2016 was a rough year in many ways, and there may still be dark days ahead, but we’re hoping that in 2017 we can help make the future a little brighter by bringing some beautiful new author websites into the world. If you’d like yours to be one of them, contact us today!
